Banana is the second most consumed fruit in the world. Its cultivation produces
large amounts of lignocellulosic residues, mostly discarded inappropriately.
These residues are often potential means of vector proliferation, in addition
to contributing, through decomposition, to the generation of greenhouse
gases. Thus, we sought to identify through a systematic search in databases
(Periódicos Capes, Science Direct, and Springer Link) alternatives for reuse
and consequent recovery of these residues. It was proposed to perform
a quantitative and qualitative temporal analysis of the selected articles,
identifying the number of publications per year and the journals in which
they were published. Thus, an increasing number of articles published in the
last decade were identified, mostly in high impact journals (SCImago index).
In this way, it was found that the production of composites, biofuels,
and adsorbent compounds are the main alternatives for attributing greater
added value to banana residues and, consequently, promoting their reuse.
