Abstract

This work aimed to evaluate the development of citronella grass (Cymbopogon winterianus) irrigated with water supplied by the concessionaire (TA); treated domestic sewage, after the addition of chlorine (TB); and treated domestic sewage, before adding chlorine (TC). The effluent used came from an Upflow
Anaerobic Sludge Blanket (UASB), treatment plant. The irrigation, with each effluent, was carried out in seven pots, each pot with two seedlings of the plant, totaling 14 plants. The following were analyzed: chlorophyll index in the leaves (CI); dry mass (DM) content; inert mass (IM) content. For the CI, the results, in SPAD, were: 18 (TA), 31.73 (TB) and 37.03 (TC). For the MS, the results, in% w / w, were: 86.14 (TA), 83.75 (TB) and 82.18 (TC). For the IM, the results, in% w / w, were: 2.25 (TA), 1.71 (TB) and 1.63 (TC). We noticed
that plants watered with treated effluents visually showed better leaf development and a darker shade of green. We discovered that the effluent from the TC treatment provided the highest production of chlorophyll,
indicating a greater potential for use. The TA treatment provided the production of larger amounts of dry and inert mass.
