Abstract

The concept of design is rewritten by the modern concept of sustainability. The eco-friendly development, which was considered a differential at the end of the last century, now is considered obligatory. When the designer’s goal is to combine innovation with environmental issues, some difficulties appear due to the complexity of the subject. If, on the one hand, the designer searches for the customer satisfaction and the continuous supply of new products, on the other, there is a concern to integrate the technically possible with the ecologically necessary. Furthermore, the integration must happen through sustainable balance of social, environmental and economic aspects. The contribution of this work is to experiment models through the analysis of sustainability. The methodology includes the application of ESA tool. This tool considers environmental, social and economic issues for the evaluation of the prototypes. As a result, there is a demonstration of an analysis tool of sustainability to use in volumetric models and products.
