Abstract

Environmental education is part of the education process, where values are built to conserve the environment, combating the environmental crisis. Life cycle assessment estimates the potential environmental impacts generated throughout the life cycle of an activity. This work aimed at evaluating the potential environmental impacts produced by an education program through the life cycle perspective and at proposing a methodology both for the insertion of this concept into environmental education activities and for evaluating the environmental performance of other educational programs. Using the SimaPro 7.3.0 software, the final waste scenario accounted for 67.1% of the total environmental impacts, mostly due to the transportation of organic waste to the landfill, followed by other activities involving logistics. The organic decomposition of this type of waste can reduce the impacts up to 37% in relation to the original scenario.
