Dairy cattle wastewater (DCW) is an alternative to provide mineral nutrients,
reducing the use of fertilizers. Thus, the response of photochemical activity
and biomass gain in citronella under different nitrogen doses applied via
DCW slides were evaluated. Nitrogen was the reference element from which
the equivalent amount of DCW to be applied was calculated. Thus, nitrogen
rates applied via DCW were 100, 200, 300 and 400% in relation to mineral
fertilization used in the control. Chlorophyll a fluorescence, pigments and dry
mass were analyzed. The response of the citronella to the doses of DCW was
time-dependent and the energy that was absorbed by the phosphossites was
used to reduce the final acceptors in the electron transport chain, promoting
better photochemical efficiency at all doses, but, this did not reflect in the
biomass gain, mainly of the leaves.
