Abstract

Usage and occupation of land by various human activities have led to continuous contamination of water resources that are a public property for common use with economic value. In the new view of the legal rules, multiple uses of these resources shall be guaranteed. Thus, disposal of domestic wastewater should be appropriate, considering the vulnerability of the environment and so that the release could not deteriorate the receiver body to the point of changing water features, preventing the uses to which are assigned. In this paper, considering the legal rules, the conditions of the former sewage treatment plant (WWTP) of Itirapina (SP) were evaluated, as well as the design of a new WWTP, through the prism of environmental responsibilities.
